Tictactio is a 2-player strategy game on a 6x6 grid. The goal is to reduce your opponent to 2 pieces by forming rows of exactly 3 in a straight line (horizontal or vertical).
Objective
Reduce your opponent to 2 pieces, making it impossible for them to create rows of 3.
Start
Each player has 12 pieces. Players take turns placing pieces until all 24 are on the board.
Phases of Play
- Placement: Players alternate placing pieces. No captures can be made in this phase.
- Movement: Players take turns moving pieces to adjacent empty spaces (up, down, left, right) to form rows of 3 and capture pieces.
Capturing Rules
- Capturing is allowed only when forming a new row of exactly 3.
- Multiple rows of 3 in one move allow multiple captures, one per row.
- A piece moved from a row of 3 cannot immediately return to the same row to trigger a new capture.
- Rows of four or more do not trigger captures.
Winning
The game ends when a player has only 2 pieces left, and their opponent wins.
